Camille Thomas is a Franco-Belgian cellist born in Paris in May 1988.


Biography

Camille Thomas begins studying the cello at 4 years old. At the age of 10, she joined Marcel Bardon's class at the National Conservatory of Paris , where at the age of 16 she was awarded her first cello prize unanimously by the jury. She then studied with Philippe Muller at the National Music School of Aulnay-sous-Bois before going on to study in Germany with Stephan Forck, then Frans Helmerson at the Hochschule fur Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin, and finally with Wolfgang- Emmanuel Schmidt at the Hochschule fur Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar . Participating in many master classes , she has benefited from the advice of several great masters, including David Geringas , Steven Isserlis , Wolfgang Boettcher , Natalia Shakovskaya , Ralph Kirschbaum , Boris Baraz and Tabea Zimmermann .

Noticed and invited by Seiji Ozawa and Steven Isserlis to perform in their festivals 1 , 2 , Camille Thomas played in many European countries, especially at the Salle Gaveau , Victoria Hall 3 in Geneva , at the Brussels Palace of Fine Arts 4 , the Jerusalem Music Center and the Konzerthaus Berlin . She is invited to perform at various festivals ( Pablo Casals festival 5 in Prades , Strasbourg Festival 6 , Encuentro de Musica de Santander , Amsterdam Cello Biennale ...). In recent seasons, Camille Thomas has appeared as soloist with the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Baden Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lille National Orchestra , the Philharmonischen Staatsorchester Hamburg , the Orchester de Picardie , the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra , the Slovak Philharmonic, the Slovakian Radio Orchestra, the Lucerne Strings Festival, the Young Belgian Strings, the Orchester symphonique de Bretagne , the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liege , the North Czech Philharmonic, the Lamoureux Orchestra , the Republican Guard Orchestra, the United Nations Orchestra, La Baule Symphonic, Berlin's Junge Sinfonie under the baton of conductors Kent Nagano , Theodor Guschlbauer , Arie van Beek, Darrell Ang, Faycal Karoui , Mathieu Herzog, Jean- Christophe Ferreaux, Pavel Baleff, Kriistina Poska, Debora Waldman, Giedre Slekyte, Charles Olivieri-Munroe, Antoine Marguier, Rastislav Stur and Aziz Shokhakimov.
