Michael Faust (born January 16, 1959 in Cologne ) is a German musician ( flautist ),

professor at the Robert Schumann University in Dusseldorf and founder of the Gargonza Arts scholarship program .

Training

Michael Faust began his training in his hometown of Cologne with Achim Tornow and from 1972 at the Rheinische Musikschule with Cacilie Lamerichs. From 1977 to 1981 he studied at the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts with Karlheinz Zoller . He passed his concert exam in 1985. Career as an orchestral musician

His career as an orchestral musician led him at the age of 20 as principal flutist to the Orchestra di Santa Cecilia in Rome , later in this position to the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Wurttemberg State Orchestra Stuttgart and the Munich Philharmonic under Sergiu Celibidache .
