Tom Ottar Andreassen (born 19 August 1963 in Moelv ) is a Norwegian flutist, philharmonic, chamber musician, conductor and music educator.

In the autumn of 2014, he became an alternating solo flutist in the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra . The debut concert took place in 1995 in the University's auditorium with a composite orchestra under the direction of Antonio Papano and with the National Concerts' debut support. He has been a professor at the Norwegian Academy of Music since 1 August 2009 and was associated with the Barratt Due Music Institute's college department in the period 1994 - 2014. Andreassen is a solo flutist in the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation1994 - 2014 and 1st flutist in the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra since 1986.

He has studied with Torkil Bye and Ornulf Gulbransen in Oslo as well as Andreas Blau in Berlin and Aurele Nicolet in Basel . In addition to being a solo flutist in the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and in the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra , he is a frequent guest as a solo flutist in the Norwegian Opera in Oslo and in the Oslo Sinfonietta as well as Nordic symphony orchestras. Among other things, he has been an instructor for the Youth Symphony Orchestra and Valdres Summer Symphony.

Andreassen has played chamber music in Wigmore Hall and visited orchestras such as the WDR Sinfonieorchester in Cologne and the Stuttgart Philharmonic. He has also been associated with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra as a solo flutist on a number of projects. He is the brother of the organist Roger Andreassen .

Career

He has participated in a high number of recordings as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestra musician. Among other things, he has recorded Yngve Slettholm's flute concerto Possible Selections with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Christian Eggen . Regular complicit he at Risor Chamber Music Festival , Oslo Chamber Music Festival, Bergen International Festival , the Stavanger International Chamber Music Festival , the Festival of Vestfold and the Festival of Elverum besides the Ultima Festival .

Also as a conductor, Tom Ottar Andreassen is active to a lesser extent. From 2006 to 2010 he was musical director of Moelv Music Association. He has led the Norwegian Wind Ensemble in Halden and the Armed Forces Music Corps in Harstad on several occasions with works by Mozart and Richard Strauss on the program.
