Boian Videnoff (born 1987 in Sofia ) is a Bulgarian conductor .

Life and work

Boian Videnoff grew up as the son of singer Liubomir Videnoff and violinist Dora Bratchkova . in Italy and Germany, where he attended a Franco-German high school. First he received violin lessons from his mother and then studied piano with Rudolf Meister and Ok-Hi Lee at the Mannheim University of Music . He began studying conducting with Jorma Panula and continued this at the Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena as a master student with Gianluigi Gelmetti , whom he alsoassisted at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma . In 2006 he became permanent guest conductor of the Varna Philharmonic Orchestra .

Since then, Videnoff has led as a guest conductor, among others, the German Radio Philharmonic , the WDR Funkhausorchester , the Northwest German Philharmonic , the South Westphalia Philharmonic , the Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra , the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra , the Slovak Philharmonic , the Slovak Radio Orchestra, the Filarmonica George Enescu in Bucharest, the Kremerata Balticatogether with the wind section of the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra , the Orchestra Sinfonica di Bari , the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana , the Symphony Orchestra Biel Solothurn , the Basel Sinfonietta , the Orchester de Chambre du Luxembourg, the Israel Camerata Jerusalem and the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra . In 2009 he founded the Mannheim Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, whose artistic director he is and with whom he regularly goes on concert trips and tours at home and abroad.

He performed in the Cologne Philharmonic , the Elbphilharmonie , the Alte Oper Frankfurt , the Philharmonie Luxembourg , the Nurnberg Meistersingerhalle , the Stuttgart Liederhalle , in the Herkulessaal and in the Gasteig , among others Munich and in the Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp, working with soloists such as Mischa Maisky , Martha Argerich and Elena Baschkirova, Sonya Yoncheva , Michael Barenboim , Sergei Babayan , Lars Vogt , Johannes Moser , Igor Levit , Valentina Lisitsa , Julian Steckel , Sergei Nakaryakov and Evgeni Bokhanov .

Some of his concerts have been broadcast on radio and television. He released a CD with the Mannheim Philharmonic in 2015, including with the concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic , Albena Danailova, as a soloist.
