Rudiger Lotter (born March 3, 1969 in Arnsberg ) is a German violinist and conductor, best known as a performer of music from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The son of a physicist studied violin and musicology at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Dusseldorf with Michael Gaiser and in Cologne. In addition to his work as section leader of the second violins in the Munich Chamber Orchestra and as artistic director of the Munich Court Orchestra , Rudiger Lotter appears as a soloist with European orchestras and in chamber music ensembles such as Lyriarte. His artistic career as an orchestra musician led through the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen (1995-1998), the Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra (section leader, 1996/97), theMunich Philharmonic (1997/98) to the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Munich Court Orchestra . In addition, in 2007 he held a guest professorship at the State University of Music in Trossingen. Since 2009 he has been the artistic director of the Hofkapelle Munich, where he is also the 1st concertmaster and violin soloist of the ensemble. Rudiger Lotter gives chamber music concerts with artists such as Ronald Brautigam , Christine Schornsheim , Dorothee Oberlinger , Hille Perl and Irvine Arditti ? the spectrum ranges from baroque music tocontemporary music . As a specialist in historical performance practice, Rudiger Lotter has already worked with orchestras such as the WDR Symphony Orchestra , the Bremen Philharmonic , the Orchestra of the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival , the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra and the Teatro del Liceu Barcelona.
