Ludwig Bohme (born July 2, 1979 in Rodewisch ) is a German singer ( baritone ) and choir conductor.

On September 1, 2022, he took over the management of the Windsbach Boys' Choir .

Career

Ludwig Bohme is the son of the Leipzig St. Thomas organist Ullrich Bohme and the organist and university professor Martina Bohme. He had piano and singing lessons as early as preschool. From 1989 to 1998 he was a member of the Leipzig St. Thomas Choir , where he was first prefect of the choir and from 2001 to 2002 he was also assistant to the St. Thomas Cantor .

After graduating from the Thomasschule in Leipzig, he studied choir conducting with Georg Christoph Biller , conducting with Horst Neumann , singing with Dirk Schmidt and piano with Markus Tomas at the “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” University of Music and Theater in Leipzig . He passed his diploma examination with a thesis on Josquin des Prez with distinction. He then completed postgraduate studies with Roland Borger , which he completed in 2007 with the concert exam. This was followed by a teaching position in choral conducting at the Evangelical University of Church Music in Halle .
Ludwig Bohme is married to the educational scientist Katja Bohme and the couple has two children.

Singer and choir director

Ludwig Bohme is co-founder of the award-winning Calmus Ensemble Leipzig . As a baritone, Bohme sang around 60 concerts per year with the vocal quintet from 1999 to 2022. When he moved to Windsbach, he left the ensemble.

From 2002 to 2022, Bohme was director of the chamber choir Josquin des Prez, which is dedicated to early music . In this role, he is co-initiator of the project “Josquin ? The Project”, which was launched in 2004 and which, together with the chamber choir Josquin des Prez, performed all of the Renaissance master's works in Leipzig within 13 years. After 36 concerts, the project was completed on September 3, 2017 in Leipzig's Thomaskirche . With the chamber choir he won first prize at the German Choir Competition 2018.

From April 2012, Ludwig Bohme led the Leipzig Synagogue Choir in addition to the chamber choir Josquin des Pre z as the successor to Helmut Klotz . [5] He handed over the direction of this choir to Philipp Goldmann on September 1, 2022 when he moved to the Windsbacher Boys' Choir .

Artistic director of the Windsbacher Boys' Choir From September 1, 2022, Ludwig Bohme took over the artistic direction of the Windsbach Boys' Choir. After an application process, a nine-member search committee had previously chosen him as the successor to Martin Lehmann , who moved to Dresden as Kreuzkantor . Bohme was able to prevail against 25 competitors. Bohme's election as choir director in Windsbach was supported by a majority of the staff and choir singers.
