Ilton Wjuniski (born June 22, 1960) is a French harpsichordist and clavichordist.

Biography

He learned piano and harpsichord in Sao Paulo, before moving to Paris at the age of 18 to work with the eminent French harpsichordist, Huguette Dreyfus, and the Canadian harpsichordist, Kenneth Gilbert. He studied at the Paris Conservatory, where he obtained four first prizes, that of harpsichord and basso continuo in 1981, that of chamber music in 1982, of the history of music in 1983 and that of aesthetics in 1986.

He won 2nd prize at the Edinburgh International Competition (1982), 2nd prize and special prize for Continuo at the Paris International Competition (1983) and, unanimously, 1st prize at the Pro Musicis International Award in New York (1983).

Currently, he is professor of harpsichord, clavichord and basso continuo at the Municipal Conservatory of the 17th arrondissement of Paris.

Since 1985, he has performed all over the world and plays regularly in duo with flutist Michael Faust. He also plays clavichord (Middle Ages, Renaissance, Baroque and Classical) and organ (Iberian and Italian music of the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries). Sources
