Pieter Dirksen ( Brisbane , 1961 ) is a Dutch harpsichordist , organist and musicologist .

Life cycle

Pieter Dirksen obtained his PhD cum laude from Utrecht University in 1996 with a thesis on the keyboard music of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck . This was awarded an Erasmus Prize . He has published studies and editions mainly in the field of Northern European keyboard music from Sweelinck to Bach, is a member of the editorial board of the Bach-Jahrbuch and gives lectures and seminars.

Pieter Dirksen is a member and artistic co-leader of Combattimento (successor to the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam ). As a continuo player he plays with various other orchestras and ensembles, and with Opera Zuid . He also gives solo recitals on harpsichord and on (historical) organs at home and abroad. He gives master classes in Haarlem, Utrecht, Gothenburg, Leufsta Bruk, Leipzig, Wolfenbuttel, Palencia, Cuenca, Smarano, Basel, Moscow, Rochester and Cambridge. He is titular organist of the historic organ by Andries Severijn from ca. 1650 in the Martinuskerk in Cuijk .
