シューマン四重奏団 Schumann Quartet

The Schumann Quartet is a German-Estonian string quartet founded in 2007 in Cologne consisting of the three brothers Erik, Ken ( violin ) and Mark Schumann ( violoncello ) as well as the violist Liisa Randalu.

In its naming, it not only refers to the composer Robert Schumann , but above all to the family name of the three Schumann brothers.

Awards

The young ensemble was awarded first prize at the renowned String Quartet Competition in Bordeaux (2013) and a first prize at the 8th International Competition "Schubert and the Music of Modernity" in Graz (2012). He is also the winner of the 7th International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka and the " Premio Paolo Borciani " (both 2011).

The Schumann Quartet is a scholarship holder of the Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz Foundation and has been awarded the "Irene Steels-Wilsing Foundation" and the "Werner Richard-Dr. Carl Dorken Foundation "funded. The ensemble is a winner of the WDR series "Taste the Best-The Stars of Tomorrow" in cooperation with the University of Music and Dance Cologne . In 2014, the "Jurgen Ponto Foundation" awarded the music prize in the subject string quartet to the Schumann Quartet.
