Urska Babic (1987, Koper) is a Slovenian pianist .

She graduated from the piano direction at the renowned University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna . She is the winner of numerous awards at national and international competitions. She performed in many European cities, and in 2012 also in Carnegie Hall-in New York ( USA ).

Biography

Urska Babic was born in 1987 in Koper . She started playing pianos at the age of five. Two years later, she became a student of renowned Russian professor Sijavush Gadjiev , who then taught her for 11 years. At the age of eight (1995) she attended the first competition and won the second prize at the national competition ( TEMSIG ) as the youngest participant. At the age of ten she debuted as a soloist with an orchestra with a Bach concert in f minor. In the following years, she received two first national competitions (1998, 2001) and one other prize (2004). In 1996 she won the international Nikolay Rubinstein competition in Paris and in 2004 at the Citta di Ravenna in Italy. She is the winner of the ?kerjan?eva prize .

At the age of eighteen, she received a reception at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna ( Universitat fur Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien ), where she initially studied with internationally renowned pianist Jan Jirack , and she continued her studies and completed her studies in 2013 with pianist and conductor Stephan Moller .

As a soloist she performed with the Symphony Orchestra of RTV Slovenia , the Coastal Chamber Orchestra and the Symphony Orchestra of the Ljubljana Central Music and Ballet School . She was often placed in the program of the Music Youth of Ljubljana and performed at the Knight's Hall of the Kri?anke of Ljubljana. In 2011, she performed four solo concerts in the framework of the Pianissimo ( EPTA ) cycle. The concert took her to several European cities (Paris, Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Trieste, Zagreb, Rijeka, Rovigo ...). In May 2012, as a guest of the Golden Key Piano Festival, she performed at Carnegie Hall in New York.

Babic is also active in the field of chamber music; in 2005 with her then piano quartet won the first prize at the country competition of young Slovenian musicians. Twice she attended the Glabeni July chalet on the coast . During her studies she participated in numerous chamber ensembles. In 2011/2012 she also collaborated with soprano Suzana Ograjen?ek , who prepared a program composed of solos and piano pieces by Slovenian composer Risto Savin .

The concert season 2013/14 dedicated Urska to the program of classic piano blues , which she successfully presented at the recitals in Zalec, Polzela and Nazarje.

Since September 2013, Urska teaches the piano at the Nazarje Music School.
