Beatrice Berrut , born on April 19 , 1985 in Geneva ,is a Swiss classical pianist,originally from the canton of Valais .


Biography

By her training, she descends from the tradition of the Russian piano school of Heinrich Neuhaus , having trained with Galina Iwanzowa in Berlin , Esther Yellin in Zurich and Brigitte Engerer in Paris.

She began playing the piano at the age of 8 and her studies took her to the Lausanne Conservatory and then to the Heinrich Neuhaus Foundation in Zurich. She later studied at the Hochschule fur Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin and the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin with John O'Conor , a student of Wilhelm Kempff .

Her concerts have taken her to major European halls and festivals, such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Berlin Konzerthaus , the Brussels Palace of Fine Arts , the Victoria Hall in Geneva, Auditorio Stello Mollo of Lugano, Warsaw Chopin Academy . She has appeared in the United States ( Ravinia Festival , Columbia College Chicago (in) and at the Myra Hess Memorial Concerts at the Chicago Cultural Center ), and also in Argentina ( Teatro Coliseo (es) of Buenos Aires, Teatro El Circulo (es) of Rosario) and Costa Rica , together with major orchestras such as the Swiss Radio and Television Orchestra, the Dortmunder Philharmoniker, the Philharmonic Sudwestfalen , the Pays de la Loire National Orchestra, the North Czech Philharmonic, or the Staatskapelle in Meiningen. She was greatly influenced in her artistic development by her meetings with Menahem Pressler , Leon Fleisher , Miriam Fried and the late Gyorgy Sandor , student of Bela Bartok .

Chamber Music

Beatrice Berrut was invited by Gidon Kremer for several concerts at her Basel Museum Festival in 2005. She also performed with Itzhak Perlman during her festival at the Hamptons (NY) in 2011, or with artists such as Frans Helmerson , Mihaela Martin and Shlomo Mintz .

Radio and television

Beatrice Berrut is the Swiss winner of the 2002 Eurovision Young Musicians Competition . In 2006, she received the Jean Clostre Prize from the Geneva Arts Society, and in 2009 the Johann Sebastian Bach Special Prize from the Wiesbaden International Piano Competition, awarded by Breitkopf & Hartel . In 2010, the State of Valais awarded him the triannual Music Pro scholarship. In 2011, she received the "Revelacion" prize from the Association of Argentine Musical Critics, and in 2014 the Valais State Prize for Encouragement. His CD Bach is in the "top ten" of the 2015 NDR recordings.
