オルガニスト: オッリ・ポルタン Olli Porthan

Olli Kalevi Porthan (born December 11, 1957 in Tampere) is a Finnish organist and pedagogue.

Career

Porthan studied organ at the Sibelius Academy with Enzio Forsblom and the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam with Jacques van Oortmerssen, as well as in several international master classes with Marie-Claire Alain, Montserrat Torrent and Harald Vogel, among others. After completing his diploma in organ playing, he gave his first concert in 1983 at Finlandia Hall in Helsinki. Porthan won first prize in the Lahti Organ Week organ competition in 1980.

Porthan has given active concerts not only in Finland but also in various countries around Europe and in Japan as a soloist and chamber musician. He has also made appearances on radio and television in different countries, in addition to which he has recorded organ and chamber music from different eras.

Porthan has been a teacher of organ music at the Sibelius Academy since 1980 and a professor since 1988. Porthan was head of the Department of Church Music at the Sibelius Academy from 1997 to 2002. He has also taught master classes.

Porthan has worked as an expert in several organ building projects, including the Sibelius Academy, Janakkala Church, Kotka Church and Tallinn Cathedral.

He is the artistic director of Janakkala Baroque Summer and a member of the artistic planning committee and jury of the Kotka International Organ Competition and Organ Week. He has served as a jury member in several international organ competitions.

Porthan was president of the Organum Society from 1986 to 1990. In 2000, he was awarded the Organum Society's Circulation Award for promoting a multi-level understanding of different areas and styles of organ art and encouraging the presentation of different and personal views. On 6 December 2003, he was awarded the Order of the Lion of Finland, 1st class (SL R I).
