ヴァインベルガー室内管弦楽団 Weinberger Chamber Orchestra

The idea of the Weinberger Chamber Orchestra emerged in 2005 in a lively discussion between Gabor Takacs-Nagy and Peter Grob on a train journey along Lac Leman from Montreux to Geneva.

Only a musician who is enthusiastic can inspire and move his audience. We have to create extraordinary conditions for the orchestra, offer sensational experiences in order to be able to offer our audience unique experiences and unforgettable moments.

Every year since 2006, selected chamber musicians from Switzerland and all of Europe have been invited to Zurich in order to further develop music in a workshop, to rehearse a program and to prepare for performances.

Gabor Takacs-Nagy, who lives in Geneva, is responsible for the musical direction. As a distinguished conductor and professor of chamber music, Takacs-Nagy has extensive experience in encouraging young musicians to achieve top performances. Takacs-Nagy and the ensemble each work for a full week. The extraordinarily intensive and focused rehearsal enables the ensemble to work out gripping interpretations that are finely chiseled into every detail and to achieve a high level of tonal homogeneity. The musicians share their great passion, maintain old friendships and make new ones. Participating in the Weinberger Ensemble also means getting away from the daily routine and recharging your batteries. This spirit of uniqueness turns the captivating concerts of the Weinberger Chamber Orchestra into formative events.

The ensemble traditionally works with Swiss composers - a new work is created for each concert program, which is rehearsed personally with the composer. In the past few years, compositions by Daniel Schnyder, Fabian Muller, Martin Wettstein and Rodolphe Schacher could be heard. Miklos Perenyi, Steven Isserlis, Julian Bliss, Paul Meyer and Evelyn Glennie performed as soloists.

Radio SRF has repeatedly recorded and broadcasted productions. In 2012 and 2014 the ensemble was invited to record works by Edvard Grieg, Daniel Schnyder, Fabian Muller and Bela Bartok in the legendary Radio Studio 1 in Zurich.
