history and specifics

The program of the Salzburg Whitsun Festival for Philippe Jaroussky 's aria concert describes the ensemble as "the synthesis of a career over 25 years, even a whole life in the service of music". Stutzmann brings to the work with Orfeo 55 "all the musical rigor, freedom of expression and emotional intensity that shaped her reputation as a singer and conductor". What is special about the ensemble is that the founder both sings and conducts on all recordings released up to 2015.

The orchestra focused on Baroque works Bach , Handel , Vivaldi . However, the musicians master both the old and the modern instruments. Therefore, the ensemble is not tied to one epoch, but also plays the Metamorphoses by Richard Strauss and the Transfigured Night by Arnold Schonberg , as well as works by Wagner , Mahler and Tchaikovsky . Thanks to the celebrity of the founder and the success of the first recordings, the ensemble quickly became an integral part of the international concert scene and made guest appearances in theSalle Pleyel and at the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris, the Wigmore Hall in London, the Saint-Denis Festival , the Salzburg Whitsun Festival and the Handel Festival in Halle an der Saale . In March 2015, the TV channel Arte broadcast a video recording of Pergolesi's Stabat mater, recorded in the Chapelle de la Trinite of the Chateau de Fontainebleau .

The ensemble cultivated collaborations with well-known singers such as the countertenor Philippe Jaroussky or the sopranos Em?ke Barath and Sonya Yoncheva .

In 2019 the ensemble was disbanded. Financial difficulties and lack of time on the part of the musical director, Stutzmann, were given as the reason.
