Slobodeniouk or Slobodenjuk [1975 in Moscow as Dmitry Dmitry] is a Russian-Finnish conductor .

Life

Slobodeniouk comes from a musical family, his father and grandfather played viola in the Philharmonic Orchestra, his mother is a pianist. He moved to the collapse of the Soviet Union at the age of 16 at the suggestion of his father to Finland, where he has been chief conductor of the Sinfonia Lahti since 2016. As early as 2013, he became director of the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia in La Coruna . He began his education at the age of 14 at the Music Conservatory in Moscow, where he received training as a violinist. He continued his education at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki , where he completed his training as a violinist and began his training as a conductor.

In 1999 he conducted a symphony concert for the first time. As a guest conductor he has worked in Boston, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Vienna, Munich, Tokyo, Minnesota, Lucerne and the radio orchestras in Stuttgart and Cologne.
In February 2018, he conducted the Berlin Philharmonic for the first time. He likes to direct contemporary works, including world premieres, for which he sees himself as an ambassador of the composer and as a substitute for the audience .

As part of the Grammy Awards 2014 , he was nominated for Holmboe: Concerto in the Grammy Award for Best Classical Compendium category.
