Vaclav LUKS (November 14, 1970 in Rakovnik) is a Czech harpsichordist, horn player, conductor, musicologist, and educator, is active since 1995 mainly in the field of historical performance practice.


Life

Vaclav LUKS started his musical training at the Pilsen Conservatory in subjects of Horn and piano. After further studies at the Academy of performing arts in Prague, he became a musician in the Westtschechischen broadcasting and from 1989 to 1991 at the National Theatre in Prague. In 1992 he resumed studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in the harpsichord class of Jorg-Andreas Botticher, Basso continuo lessons with Jesper Boje Christensen and in 1997 he received the soloist diploma.
From 1996 to 1999, LUKS continuo taught at the Prague Academy and from 2001 to 2003, he held a teaching position at the Conservatory in Leipzig. Since 2013 he teaches choral conducting at the Hochschule fur Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. LUKS is jury member at various early music competitions, such as the "Schmelzer competition Melk".

in 1990 he founded the Baroque Orchestra Collegium in Prague 1704, which was a professional structure in 2005 with the "Collegium vocale 1704" called at this point in the life; so it was possible to perform larger vocal works such as, for example, the Bach passions.

LUKS played natural Horn in the Akademie fur Alte Musik Berlin and is one of the guest conductor of la CETRA Barockorchester Basel. CD he made recordings for the label 'Zig-Zag Territoires', "Supraphon", "Arta" or "Pan Classics". Focuses on the execution of the works of Czech composers such as Antonin Reichenau, Josef Myslive?ek, Jan Dismas Zelenka, Georg Anton Benda in his work. When the French ancient music festival, the Festival de Sable in Sable-sur-Sarthe, Festival de La Chaise-Dieu, Festival de musique de Sully, but also at the Prague Spring, or as "Artist in residence" at the "Svatovaclavskeho hudebniho festivalu" (St. Wenceslas Festival) in Ostrava, LUKS appeared as a guest musician.
