Enrico Fagone ( Broni , 20 June 1979 ) is an Italian double bass player and conductor .

Biography

He began studying the double bass in 1994 under the guidance of Leonardo Colonna at the Giuseppe Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza, where he graduated with honors. Between 2000 and 2005 he perfected himself with Franco Petracchi and Klaus Stoll. He studied orchestra conducting at the " Claudio Abbado " school in Milan, perfecting with Jorma Panula . In 2000 he was ranked first in the Werther double-bass competition - Emilio Benzi.

He is the first double bass soloist of the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana and has collaborated with the National Symphony of the RAI , the National Academy of Santa Cecilia , the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma , the NHK of Tokyo , the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester , Festival Strings Lucerne with some orchestra directors such as Lorin Mazeel , Myun-Whun Chung , Christian Thielemann , Nello Santi , Bernard Haitink , Charles Dutoit .

Since 2010 he has participated in the Martha Argerich Project and in 2013 and 2014 the Giovanni Bottesini Association of Crema invited him to hold a recital in the birthplace of Giovanni Bottesini , the first concert held there in modern times . From 2015 Artistic Director of the " Giovanni Bottesini " International Competition.

He teaches double bass at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana and holds masterclasses at the Juiliard School in New York , at the Jerusalem Academy, at the Royal Academy in London , at the IUNA in Buenos Aires , Mozarteum in Salzburg , Toho Gakuen of Tokyo , Superior Conservatory of Paris .
